From earliest times, Christians have traced the footsteps of the Lord as he carried his cross from Pilate’s house to the place of his crucifixion. The crusaders are said to have spread this devotion throughout Europe and so, for those who were unable to make the journey to Jerusalem, the ‘Way of the Cross’ was set up in cathedrals and parish churches until now it has become a feature of Christian devotion everywhere.
The photographs are of the fourteen Stations of the Cross installed in St. George’s East Ivanhoe and manufactured by Domus Dei, Rome.
