I am pleased to be with you as your Locum priest during this interregnum period. I am sure there will be a period of adjustment following Fr. Stuart’s retirement and a sense of anticipation about what this Locum may do and be, as well as the long-term future for the parish. Interregnums can be disturbing for some, as well as a time of reflection and renewal as we seek to discover what God is asking of us at this time in our parish life.

I plan to be in the parish on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sunday and of course always available at any other time necessary, whether it is for a visit, a funeral or parish occasion. . Farewell Fr Stuart Gardiner

Today we farewell Fr Stuart Gardiner as he retires from parish ministry after more than 30 years’ service in the Diocese of Melbourne. He has been our priest and friend at St George’s since May 2015. We give thanks today for his ministry in this place, as well as his ministries in other parishes and as Area Dean.

We will miss him in many ways-for his pithy and erudite sermons; for his gentleness;kindness; common sense, and his dry wit. We wish him and Gail many blessings in his retirement and thank him for a job well done.
